Punk Rock Social: Shattered Faith, Channel 3 in L.B.

Authored, Photographed and Submitted by Michael Zampelli

It was Punk Rock nostalgia night on Saturday as old-shoolers Channel 3 and Shattered Faith topped the bill at the monthly Punk Rock Social at Alex's Bar in Long Beach. Spiky-haired newcomers, the Krum Bums, who are currently touring with GBH, set the tone with a flurry of adrenaline-injected tunes that stirred up action in the mosh pit. Shattered Faith followed suit with a showcase of their classic songs including "Trilogy", "I love America" and "Victims of Society". Original singer Spencer Bartsch was was backed up by his son, Brandon, on guitar along with some original and new members chosen for the current US tour. Channel 3 closed show with a high-energy set that concluded with their signature tune, "I've Got a Gun".

This was a cool show. I dug the Krum Bums and several of the Shattered Faith songs provoked teenage memories of personal mix tape compilations recorded from KPFK and KXLU in the 80's.
