Judge to Rule on Prop 8 Language Today

Yesterday, lawyers representing both sides of Proposition 8 met with a judge to fight for the language that will appear on the ballot. Should it say "limit on marriage," which it originally said, or "eliminate same sex marriage," which it was later changed to? Last month, Attorney General Jerry Brown changed the language to properly reflect the court ruling legalizing gay marriage in the state. Proponents call the "eliminates" wording loaded and prejudicial. Opponents call it straight-forward. The Mercury News said "it seemed likely that [the judge] will order some changes to the language of the partisan ballot arguments filed by Proposition 8 opponents and proponents to sway voters."
