John Edwards Confirms Rumors of Affair, Denies Paternity

johnedwardsHalo2006.jpgFormer Democratic Presidential candidate contender John Edwards is now admitting that he had an extra-marital affair with Rielle Hunter, but denies that he is the father of her child. Edwards initially denied the reports of the affair, as first broken by the National Enquirer, which claimed he had a rendezvous with the divorced model Hunter at a Los Angeles-area hotel that involved him seeing what they called their "love child." The Senator has been on some speculators' short lists for potential running mates for Barack Obama, but Edwards' involvement in Obama's candidacy and the upcoming DNC in Denver are most likely questionable following this admission. Edwards discusses the affair on an ABC newscast tonight during an interview with Bob Woodruff.

Yes, I know, you will probably say I don't have to come to this blog if I don't like it. But I going to say it again. Why the heck do you have posts that are completely unrelated to Los Angeles?
Your blog says "LAist is a website about Los Angeles".

If I haven't checked for a couple of days, there are like 87 new posts on your blog. Get rid of the non-LA posts.

this all came about after edwards' stay at the beverly hills hilton, so there's your relation to LA!

They'll probably say it's LA related since Edwards was at the Beverly Hills hotel.

The real story now is whether Elizabeth will still speak at the Dem convention. She had a primetime speaking slot on the tentative schedule that leaked yesterday.

And btw, John says that he told his family about the affair in 2006. Which would mean that Elizabeth campaigned alongside him, claiming that he was an honest man, all while knowing about the affair.

How could they be dumb enough to think that this story would never come out in (potentially) 8 years in the White House? That means they don't actually care too much about a Dem being in control of the White House.

Excellent point tornadoes. Nothing happens anywhere but here in L.A. How dare the editors report on something nationally!

>eyeroll goes here

Maybe it's a good thing Edwards fessed up now. But I guess what annoys me most about this is that the Enquirer is actually right about stuff from time to time. They are slipping.

Don't you guys owe the Enquirer an apology? I remember some nasty words directed toward them a few days ago regarding this.

"Don't you guys owe the Enquirer an apology?"

NO!!

"I remember some nasty words directed toward them a few days ago regarding this."

Yes, I remember making them and I'd quite be happy to repeat them.
