Win Tickets to Café Tacvba & Ima Robot at the Greek Theatre

Photo_SINO_300CMYK5.jpg
Café Tacvba

As summer goes along, the Greek Theatre is still happening with many outdoor shows. The upcoming schedule includes the Gipsy Kings, Jethro Tull, The Raconteurs, Sigur Rós, The Swell Season, Jason Mraz and more. But today we're featuring and giving two pairs of tickets away to the Friday, August 22 Café Tacvba show, with special guests, Ima Robot (you can get tickets here)

For past contests for tickets to the Greek, we've asked you what to do in Los Feliz and what's so great about Griffith Park. For this contest and in light of the recent scramble diagonal crosswalks being introduced throughout the city, we ask you to tell us where you think one should go as your contest entry. To enter, read the rules below and have fun!

Here's how the contest works:

  • Enter the contest by making a comment on this post (below). Comments must fit the criteria, stated below.
  • The criteria of the comment must be about where you think a scramble-diagonal crosswalk should go. Maybe you think one needs to be at Ventura and Sepulveda or at Hollywood and Highland. To get some ideas and background on this, check this out.
  • You may only enter once.
  • The contest closes at 11:59:59 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2008.
  • Two winners will be selected at random to receive a pair of tickets and will be notified via the e-mail connected to their LAist.com login. They must confirm the receipt of the e-mail by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, August 14, 2008 or the tickets will be released to another winner.

Good luck!

Diagonal Crossing is definitely needed at Wilshire and Bundy. This isn't a particularly bad crossing, but it would make my morning walk to the bus easier.

Vermont / Wilshire should get a scrambled crosswalk. It would benefit the massive amount of pedestrians exciting the metro station and vehicles that are usually stuck waiting for those pedestrians to cross before being able to make a right turn.

Hollywood/Vine. You can never make that right turn!

I am also going to go with Hollywood/Vine. Really busy intersection, right next to a Metro Station.

Wilshire and Western would be ideal, in my opinion. The foot traffic there is insane at times. I would also say Wilshire/Westwood (intersections at Wilshire seem to be the general consensus!) but the distance is a bit too much. I'll go with Wilshire and Western. It's an incredibly busy intersection.

Hoover and Jefferson, the north end of the USC campus. Tons of students on foot and bike cross there, and they all cross diagonally anyway but get huge jaywalking fines!

I guess i'm not the first one to post this but I too think Hollywood and Vine.
Cafe tacuva!cafe tacuva!

How about Sunset and Cahuenga - who couldn't use a more direct route from from Amoeba to the Hotel Cafe?

La Brea and Santa Monica. Most major intersections have a period of time between when the hand signal stops flashing and the light actually turns red so that cars can turn. For whatever reason, this intersection, with extremely heavy pedestrian traffic, doesn't implement that.

the intersection at Hollywood and Sunset...and Virgil...and Hillhurst...and Sunset Dr...
That clusterfuck of an intersection is a pain to cross, especially if you're trying to get from Ralph's to the Vista, or Blockbuster to the Autozone.
But maybe we shouldn't hope too hard...as Cafe Tacuva says, "Cuando no deseo nada, tengo todo"....

Lankershim Blvd. and Campo De Cahuenga Way/Universal Hollywood Dr.

Anyone commuting in and out of Universal City Station knows what a pain in the ass current sidewalks set up around here is.

I'm going to agree with Hoover and Jefferson (near USC) being a victim of a jaywalking/jayboarding ticket! ima robot!

OH my fucking god, everyone knows we need one on Hollywood and Highland.

Hollywood & Highland. That corner is impossible!

All of them?

The intersection I've had the most close calls at is 9th and Figueroa, so I'll say 9th and Fig downtown.

To get to the other side.

I am going to go to the eastside and Soto and Cesar Chavez. It would help with all the people trying to make left turns.

Hollywood and Highland

Westwood and Wilshire would improve my life the most, but Venice and Overland would be another good spot.

Sunset & Vine

Wilshire and Normandie; it gets ridiculous.

Have to agree with Hollywood/Vine, with all the tourists and the like in that area.

I think every street in Downtown Los Angeles would benefit from a scrambled crosswalk. Downtown is impossible to navigate during rush hour due to the large number of pedestrians that are trying to get from point a to point b. Plus, most other large cities in the world have scrambled crosswalks in their city centers.

Hollywood and Vine. It's been said before, but yeah.

Cafe Tacuba is the greatest band to come from Mexico , with Mana a close second. Re is like The Beatles 'White Album', in rock en espanol......

damn.

Agreed with Highland and Hollywood!!!

Hollywood/Highland!

I'd say on Brand at the Americana in Glendale. Street traffic on Brand is nuts now thanks to that place...

Boy and Girls we need one of these at Santa Monica Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard. Hello, West Hollywood!

I say we put one at 7th and Fig.

Santa Monica Blvd and Western is in great need of a scramble-diagonal crosswalk. This particular intersection has high pedestrian usage almost around the clock and especially on the weekends.

May I be randomly selected to win because I can guarantee that I'll enjoy every second of this show!

Where Sunset, Vermont and Hollywood meet...that intersection could use all of the clarity it can get!

I noticed the one at Westwood and Le Conte. I was surprised the City of LA woke up.

I would have to second the notion of Westwood and Wilshire. There's always people running south across Wilshire to catch a Blue Bus or Metro Rapid.

Soooooooo...... who were the lucky winners? I wonder if my winning email got stuck in the spam filter. :) Thanks for the give away.
