No Fun - The Stooges Equipment Stolen
In Montreal this morning, some time between 6:30 and 7:30 am, the legendary Iggy and the Stooges had their rented truck with tons of equipment inside stolen from outside the Embassy Suites hotel. Current Stooge, local hero, and occasional LAist photo contributor, Mike Watt, forwarded an email late this afternoon urging anybody with any information to contact Eric Fischer via cell phone - (646) 932-1907, or via email at nycentral13@gmail.com.

IGGY AND THE STOOGES EQUIPMENT STOLEN ON AUGUST 4, 2008 OUTSIDE THE EMBASSY SUITES HOTEL 208 SAINT ANTOINE OUEST, MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADAall equipment was in a rented penske 15 foot yellow truck
with u.s. (michigan) license plate number AC46493
and the theft had to have happened in the morning,

That's hideous. I hope the jerk that took the equipment does the right thing and finds a way to return it.

My laptop and canon EOS were stolen from my car a few days ago on Sunset. Needless to say, I want to kill someone.

There is a special place in hell for people who steal touring bands' equipment and it plays "Loving You" on a continuous loop for eternity.

It's my belief, as a Pedran, that fucking with any of Watt's basses brings everlasting misery and curses upon the thief and seven generations of their family.

That is horrible and it happens way too often. Hope someone from The Stooges camp went to all the pawn shops in the area and offered them a reward if they call the cops when the these jerks inevitably show up. The cops can often provide you a list of pawn shops to go to. There is enough stuff that the pawn shop folk could act like it is taking a long time to catalog it and quickly step in the back and call the cops to come down for the big bust! I think the cops would respond quickly because it was not only the stealing of the gear but also of the vehicle. Fingers crossed.
