LAst Night's Action: No Lazy Summer Night

Vlad Points the Way

LA Angels defeat NY Yankees 12-6. The Angels continue to roll. This time they used three Earl Weavers hit by Torii Hunter, Juan Rivera and Vladimir Guerrero to put the beating on the Yanks. Jon Garland had a good outing for the Angels going six plus innings giving up three runs on seven hits. While Darren O’Day made the game more interesting than it needed to giving up three runs in the ninth, Jose Arredondo got things back under control getting the last three batters out.

Arizona Diamondbacks defeat LA Dodgers 2-1. Lost in the all the hubbub surrounding ManRam was a very entertaining game. The duel of sinkerballers was won by Brandon Webb who made one less mistake than Derek Lowe. And excellent throw on a shallow leftfield fly by Conor Jackson to the plate to get Andre Ethier out at home in the eighth singlehandedly preserved the win for Webb who was running on fumes at that point. It was an effort by both teams to score any runs in what was a gem of a game.

Notable Notes

Just when things couldn’t get more absurd in As the Favre Turns, it just did. Now Green Bay has offered Brett Favre $20 million to stay retired. That’s right. Instead of reporting to training camp, the Packers will pay Favre to stay away. Where can I get that offer?

A couple of weeks ago we presented an interesting picture of Baron Davis and Steve Nash riding together on a tandem bicycle in their tragically hideous outfits. Well now the spoof movie trailer for Step Brothers is out, and it is quite entertaining. Enjoy.

Tonight’s Action

Arizona Diamondbacks at LA Dodgers. The debut of Manny Ramirez and a Randy Johnson-Clayton Kershaw duel. Holy fucking shit am I glad that I bought tickets right behind home plate in the loge section. I’ll be by myself so come by and say hi. 7:40 pm FSN Prime Ticket, AM 790 KABC.

LA Angels at NY Yankees. The Angels look to continue to shellac the AL East. Ervin Santana will get the start against Sidney Ponson. Yes. That Sidney Ponson. 4:05 pm FSN West, AM 830 KLAA.

I could only get top deck at a decent price but I'm more exctied for this than my free tickets field level behind home plate from last night.
