George Lucas' classic film American Graffiti screens tonight in Glendale. The film immortalizes the cruising lifestyle of young Americans and helped launch the careers of Hollywood heavyweights such as Richard Dreyfuss, Harrison Ford and Ron Howard.

It seems like only yesterday when one could only hear hip-hop music on a faint and little known AM radio station named KDAY. Now, 30 years into the hip-hop movement, things have come full circle, with hip-hop culture regularly dominating the radio air waves, music videos and digital media, and now becoming the focus of panel discussions. Breaking in its 30's: The Maturing of Hip Hop's Dance Art discusses and demonstrates the dance aspects of the culture as exhibited by the breaking dance styles.

BOOK SIGNING
T.J. English signs his latest novel Havana Nocturne, a crime novel set in pre-Fidel Castro Cuba. The novel is an intriguing look at mafia power and influence within Cuba, highlighting the history of Havana, its politics and mob orchestrated shenanigans.

Today is National Cheesecake Day, yes, you read that right. To celebrate, The Cheesecake Factory is offering slices for $1.50 to accompany your meal. How can anyone resist that?
