As Councilman Dennis Zine's paparazzi motion (what we like to call the Britney Spears law) fumbles around in a City Council committee, he's also convening a regional task force on the issue, which will have a public hearing tomorrow morning to "hear testimony from key stakeholders to develop proposals to consider in the legislative process," according to a statement from Zine's office.
The purpose? To develop concrete ideas and to determine the most effective legislation to move forward through the process so aggressive paparazzi tactics have some guidance by the long arm of the law. LAPD Chief Bratton has publicly said that current laws are suffice, but Zine, a former LAPD officer himself pushes on. Sheriff Baca, the Screen Actors Guild and officials from Beverly Hills, Calabasas, Malibu, West Hollywood, Calabasas and other areas will be there.
The meeting is at 10:00 a.m. at City Hall and can be viewed live on Channel 35 or online.
