Gabba Gabba Hey! If you're not already wearing it, you should throw on that tattered CBGB shirt, and maybe the stinky leather jacket and head down to the city's most beloved final resting place. To honor and celebrate the life and contributions of John William Cummings (known to the universe as Johnny Ramone) to the world of music and mayhem, the three surviving members of The Ramones will be at Hollywood Forever Cemetery this Friday, August 1st.

The event will feature founding member and original drummer Tommy Ramone, Marky Ramone (Road to Ruin, End of the Century, Rock 'n' Roll High School) and Dee Dee's replacement, CJ Ramone (Adios Amigos, Loco Live). There will be photo opportunities and autograph signings, so don't forget your LP's. As this is the summer, Cinespia will present rare Ramones footage and films once the sun goes down and the freaks come out. One of us! One of us!

Johnny Ramone almost single handedly invented punk rock guitar, with some of Stooges influence in there. His pounding "buzzsaw" style and I IV V chord progression shot into the ears of young guitar hopefuls around the globe and helped launch bands like Black Flag, Green Day, The Dead Kennedys, Social Distortion, Pearl Jam, and U2. Half the rock bands in the world would not exist without The Ramones. According to Rolling Stone magazine, Johnny is the 16th Greatest Guitar Player of All Time, one below Carlos Santana. Come pay tribute and thank the man who rescued rock 'n' roll from the disco inferno.

The Hollywood Forever Cemetery is located at 6000 Santa Monica Blvd.

What time is this event? Doesn't seem to be on the Cinespia website.

Shame that Johnny won't be there. Word I heard he was cremated in the Hollywood Forever ovens, but his remains were picked up by Rob Zombie who delivered them to Johnny's wife, but she hasn't decided yet where to inter them.

Hey Biffles (any relation to Biff from Hill Valley?)

The gates open at 6:30pm. I forgot to mention that there's a $10 donation expected. I sometimes forget things like cost. Where's our Woodstock??
