The Underwear Affair: An Undie Run with a Cause

The Undie Run at UCLA has a cause that is, "hey, school's out, let's get crazy!" The Underwear Affair this upcoming Saturday has a more worthy cause: raising money for prostate, colorectal, cervical, ovarian, kidney, bladder, testicular and uterine cancers.

Why these types of cancers? For the most part, these cancers, found below the waist do not get as much exposure due to their location on the body. In terms of buzz about fundraising for cancer, colorectal is just not as sexy. But all cancer is important to talk about and find a cure for, hence the Underwear Affair for City of Hope, which was named one of the top 25 cancer hospitals in America (a top 25 urology facility nationwide) by US News and World Report earlier this month.

The event is a team 10K Run/5K Walk is this Saturday afternoon and evening near the La Brea Tar Pits where runners/walkers dress up in undies or some sort of costume. Participants raise money from family and friends (you get an online page where people donate or you can bring money in person). Now, just imagine if the thousands of UCLA students that did the Undie Run three times a year organized their event for a cause.
