Shia LaBeouf's DUI: Looks Worse Than It Is

Actor Shia LaBeouf (Indiana Jones 4, Transformers) was arrested on suspicion of a DUI early yesterday morning after he and two others were hurt in a crash at Fountain and La Brea in West Hollywood. According to LA County sheriff's deputies, the actor made a left turn instead of yielding to an oncoming car, which hit his f-150 pickup truck, rolling it over.

LaBeouf, his passenger and the other driver were all treated for minor injuries. The lesser severity of the injuries to others led to the actor receiving misdemeanor drunken driving rather than a felony drunken driving, according to the LA Times.

Note on Geography: Unfortunately, the LA Times continues to botch local geography. Never once did the LA Times article say that the incident took place in West Hollywood (they generically said Hollywood), which is an independent city. Perhaps the generalization was due to the national interest in the story, so not to confuse people on the technicalities of West, North and just plain Hollywood. Perhaps it was because the corner of Fountain and La Brea lies at the boundary of West Hollywood and Los Angeles (police confirm to LAist that it did, in fact, take place within West Hollywood). But, perhaps not. Whatever it is, it's just another sign of Sam Zell empire.

should've driven Bumblebee and none of this would have ever happened.

I can't imagine they'd make the same mistake if it happened in North Hollywood. So I'll chalk it up to lazy reporting.

That corner just has the worst luck. Poor Edible Creations. I blame it on Kat Von D's tattoo parlor.

I doesn't seem like LAist is intentionally being an apologist or what, but being in a "minor accident" where my car was flipped by a drunk driver, it looks just as bad as it is.

Hey Zach-

If you're going to blame the LA Times for shoddy geographic reporting, maybe you could taken an extra a couple minutes to explain how the intersection of La Brea and Fountain is the the exact border between WeHo and Los Angeles proper.

Judging by the way the overturned car is pointing the the photo, it looks like might have spun like a top a time or two after impact. How do you know that vehicle didn't actually get hit in Los Angeles and come to a stop in West Hollywood?

Did any of your volunteer journalists pedal by to report the facts? When is Laist going to get a new crop of American Apparel models?

Hi Armin,

I did explain that: "the corner of Fountain and La Brea lies at the boundary of West Hollywood and Los Angeles (police confirm to LAist that it did, in fact, take place within West Hollywood)"

How hard is it to do this with an SUV? You kinda have to go out of your way. This dick tooling around, with someone else's chick no less, is the male equivilent of whatever screw-up female is out there right now- of which there are too many to mention exclusively! Anyone still remember the couple holding hands on Hollywood a few nights back, just before they were slaughtered by an ASS? Take this LeBOOB and stick him where people like to go where the sun don't shine :)

"Did any of your volunteer journalists pedal by to report the facts?"

Verification by the police department is accepted by all major news outlets.

"When is Laist going to get a new crop of American Apparel models?"

You are welcome to submit a sample post and if we can't nit-pick it to death over every little thing that we imagine is wrong with it because we didn't read it thoroughly, then maybe you can do this job better.

I have to go now and hop on my bike to stalk train-wreck actors all night in the hopes they will eventually get in an accident. I'm on the Courtney Love beat this week, so hopefully I won't have to pedal too fast.
