Weird Los Angeles: Dixie-Lee is Missing

spectacles.jpgIt is a rather worrying and tragic fact that each year thousands of people seem to vanish from the face of the earth, never to be seen again. Of course, many of these absentee's may well have been murdered or suffered accidental death, but what about the victim in the following case....the weird disappearance of Dixie-Lee.

Dixie-Lee Arensen was a gifted and sensitive girl. Aged just twenty-years, she was the bride of an associate youth minister at a Los Angeles congregation.

On August 25th, 1968 Dixe-Lee completely vanished from the church and hasn't been seen since. The only trace of her to be found were her spectacles--glasses which were essential to Dixie-Lee as she was nearsighted. She wore them most of the time.

Mrs Arensen arrived at the church at 7:45 am and it was only a five-minute drive from her home. Once at the church she let herself into the building, went into the office, turned on her electric typewriter and began typing from a handwritten letter. Jonathan Arensen arrived at the church around 9:15 am and although he could hear the hum of the typewriter, there was no sign of Dixie-Lee. Police stated there were no signs of a struggle at the church and her family were convinced that she was never just 'up' and leave behind her loved ones.

Of course, cases such as this are reasonably common the world over, but it's when valuable or important items, such as spectacles, are left behind that makes such a case as this so mysterious. Do people simply walk into another time-frame, to remain lost in some unknown limbo? Or can such disappearances be explained away as abduction or murder or the fact that Dixie-Lee simply had other motives in life...?

I love these, keep em coming!

People vanishing without a trace is a lot rarer than most think.

I lived in Orlando, FL when the Jennifer Kesse story shook up the entire community. I had several friends who lived in her (well guarded) apartment complex at the time of her disappearance.
