Free Dodgers Trolley Starts Today

trolley.jpgStarting today, Dodger Stadium will offer free trolley rides to baseball fans from Union Station to the field on game days. The shuttle is presented by the City of Los Angeles in the hopes that event goers will take advantage of the many bus and rail lines that convene at Union Station. Trolley rides begin 90 minutes before game time and conclude one hour after the game ends. Passengers will be dropped off inside Dodger Stadium behind Center Field. The same route will run in reverse after the game. It's got to beat paying the expensive parking fee, not to mention the long wait to later exit the lot, right?

Where: Route begins in front of Union Station on Alameda St. where shuttles connect to the MTA Red, Purple and Gold Lines, Metrolink and Amtrak. A shuttle will leave Union Station approximately every 10 minutes.

Shuttles will make two stops along Sunset Blvd. on their way to the stadium:

-Figueroa St., with a connection to MTA Lines 2, 4, 55, and 60; Metro Limited Lines 302, 304 and 355; Metro Rapid Line 704; and DASH Lincoln Heights/Chinatown service.

-Marion Ave., with a connection to MTA Lines 2 and 4 arriving from the west.

The shuttle will operate for the 32 remaining home games in the 2008 season. Click here for a map of the route.

This sounds great getting there, but I wonder how hard it will be to get back to Union Station after the game. Won't everyone be leaving at once?

obviously you are not too familiar with the dodgers...

honestly, its all a crapshoot based on timing, but i would bet it will be similar to the Coliseum shenanigans.
