TV Junkie: Thursday - It's All About Comic Con

G4 Live from Comic ConG4's "Attack of the Show" crew is broadcasting live from Comic Con for the next couple days (see the listings below).

Coinciding with Comic Con: The BBC announces that the newest iteration of "Doctor Who" has been released to iTunes. Also, BBC AMERICA will have a booth on the exhibition floor plus a host of creators and stars from: "Doctor Who", "Torchwood", "Primeval" and "Spaced".

Comic Con related DVD releases that the TV Junkie has recently had a chance to review are:
Oban Star Racers Volume One: The Alwas Cycle & Oban Star Racers Volume Two: The Oban Cycle: This French/Japanese series has been viewed on American TV (ABC Family and Toon Disney) since 2006 - the artwork is pretty good but the CG-driven animation is excellent. This first couple times I saw the race sequences I was blown away by this direct-to-TV project. Volumes One & Two were released in mid-May and a Nintendo game is supposedly in the works. While the first volume has a very cohesive story and plot, things get a little muddled in the second one - other than a "making of" featurette, the bonuses are a bit thin for anyone other than true fans. Based on the pics I've seen at fansites, there are sure to be a cadre of costumed devotees at Comic Con.

Stargate Infinity - the Complete Series: This DVD is probably a collector's piece for those who are truly devoted to the entire "Stargate" franchise. The animation is very mediocre and tellingly, the Stargate SG-1 production teams and co-creator Brad Wright don't think the animated series should be considered official Stargate canon as it seems to have absolutely nothing to do with
the characters in any previous iteration of the concept. More of a novelty than anything.

7:00pm Comic Con '08 Live G4 - The G4 team takes on Comic Con

8:00pm Greatest American Dog CBS - Another team is expelled from Canine Academy.

8:00pm Last Comic Standing NBC - The final eight travel to the Playboy Mansion and face an unusual challenge; the comics are asked to tell Hugh Hefner's girlfriends, Holly, Bridget and Kendra, a humorous bedtime story

8:00pm Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? FOX - Season Finale.

9:00pm So You Think You Can Dance FOX - LL Cool J performs with The Dream; two dancers are eliminated.

10:00pm The Gong Show with Dave Attell COMEDYCENTRAL - Triumph the Insult Comic Dog judges!!

10:30pm Reality Bites Back COMEDYCENTRAL - Body Sushi with the Contestants

11:35pm Late Show With David Letterman CBS - A summer toy demonstration; actor David Duchovny; Black Kids perform.

12:35am Late Night With Conan O'Brien NBC - Actor Emile Hirsch; football player Terrell Owens; comic Craig Baldo.
