Now here's a sign of the times. Ford Motor Company has posted their 2nd Quarter results showing a $8.67 billion loss in the United States market. With gas rising, the economy struggling and a generally more eco-conscious(ish) nation, is this a surprise next move? "They will retool two more North American truck and sport utility vehicle plants to build small, fuel-efficient vehicles," according to the Associated Press.

My god they are going to run out of money soon at this rate.
Bankruptcy?
I'm actually pretty excited about the European models they'll be bringing over here.
It's their own fault.
Rain Forest Action Network, The Sierra Club, and a host of other organizations has been trying to exhert pressure on Ford, GM, Chrysler, to build smaller fuel efficient vehicles for years, but they didn't want to listen to a bunch of "tree huggers".
One particular campaign was suggested a couple of years ago to go into dealerships and ask the sales staff about why there weren't more fuel efficient vehicles in production. The answer I got from a salesman when I suggested that American car companies were going to get left behind was; "Never Happen!"
Fuck 'em they did this to themselves.
fuel efficient vehicles?
wow what a genius idea...seriously...how do these people become CEOs
Well maybe since the auto industry has been pumping out gas guzzlers all these years, and furthering the interests of oil companies, maybe the oil companies will be nice guys and share some of those $20 billion quarters.
But don't hold your breath!
