TV Junkie: Tuesday

TV FunhouseSome of the funniest TV ever is finally coming to DVD - we're talking about Comedy Central's "TV Funhouse" which was _finally_ released today. I've sent Comedy Central a few emails over the past 7 years begging them to revive the series or at release it on DVD, and even though it seemed like my messages sent through their "Contact Us" page seemingly disappeared down a black hole they have evidently been listening to me all along.

It lasted only 8 episodes but every one was a gem - Robert Smigel, familiar to most people as the creator of the animated bits on SNL for the past 20+ years as well as the voice and master of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, is an effing genius and Comedy Central's "TV Funhouse" was a chance for him to romp around on his own. Apparently the cost of the live animals cast in the show is what drove the budget into the ground (among other things) bringing it to an unfortunately early demise. Who can forget "Porn for Kids", Robert Goulet in a jacuzzi with animal puppets, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog insulting Hootie and the Blowfish in Atlantic City, and countless obscene and politically incorrect moments. Get your hands on this DVD, 'nuff said.

Did anyone hear that Amy Poehler is set to star in a new series to be released in early 2009 that is produced by the creators of "The Office" that may or may not be associated with "The Office" and may or may not include Aziz Ansari and Rashida Jones?

Thank you, Tom, for singlehandedly bringing back TV Funhouse. Now can you unleash your awesome power to bring back Pee Wee's Playhouse?
