This week's classical pick is a pick of several jazz concerts. There are always shows at the standard locations like the Baked Potato and Catalina Jazz Club, and free jazz and wine at Hollywood and Highland on Tuesdays. Tonight at 7 PM in Pasadena you have a FREE performance from the Ernie Andrews Quartet at Levitt Pavilion. The Hollywood Bowl gets in on all the action with contemporary jazz/pop trumpeter Chris Botti, this Wednesday at 8 PM. They continue the party on Friday and Saturday with the soul superstar Diana Ross and the LA Phil performing pieces by Duke Ellington and Richard Rodgers.

Another FREEbie, the Central Avenue Jazz Festival takes place at the Japanese American National Museum of all places, co-curated by pianist-composer Gary Fukushima, this Thursday. The Greek Theatre opens its doors on Saturday to the LA Jazz & Music Festival with the likes of Kenny G, Angie Stone, and Sheila E. Next Sunday in Sierra Madre the Jumpin' Joe Band performs a variety of swing/jazz at the City of Sierra Madre City Hall (that's the name of it, seriously) for free, and the Cal Phil continues its exciting summer program with Suzanne Guzmáan and Kevin Earley. They will be performing works by Rodgers and Hammerstein, at the Arboretum and the Disney Hall on Saturday and Sunday. So rouge your knees, roll your stockings down, slick your hair, buckle your shoes, and lend an ear, to all this jazz!
