110 Freeway Likely to be Closed All Day

Pasadena Freeway shut down due to SinkholeA large pothole reported near the center divider on the northbound 110 Freeway yesterday evening turned into a full blown sinkhole overnight, prompting the complete closure of the northbound 110 Freeway near Fair Oaks Drive at the tail end of the freeway before it hits surface streets in South Pasadena.

The northbound closure will be in effect all day today and will most likely be opened tomorrow, one Caltrans spokesperson said over the phone. However, you never know, it could be opened earlier than that. "Crews are working out there continuously until the problem is resolved," she said.

To get to Pasadena via freeways, take the 2 to the 134 East.

Ah, so *that's* what that long line of cars exiting the NB 110 was for. I zipped past it on my commute this morning on the Gold Line :)
