Feist, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, and Pacifika at The Hollywood Bowl Sunday
In a salute to women who rock, the 10th anniversary season of the KCRW World Festival at the Hollywood Bowl continues on Sunday. Opening for Feist is Brooklyn-based soul sensation Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, and Vancouver’s global-pop group Pacifika.
The world has seen her video for 1234 millions of times. It's appearance on the iPod Nano commercial brought her even more attention. Now after four Grammy nominations, Leslie Feist brings her guitar and loungey vibe to one of our favorite summer stages. Sunday she will make her debut at The Hollywood Bowl.
Opening for Feist, Vancouver’s global-pop group Pacifika features gently flowing melodies, deep grooves, waves of cracking percussion. Peruvian-born chanteuse, Silvana Kane’s bi-lingual vocals accompany Latin-inspired beats and melds with the trio’s diverse backgrounds.
LAist writers have sung the praises of Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings. Tom Lewis loved her 100 Days 100 Nights. Andy Sternberg said she "intensely captivated the crowd" at her performance at The El Rey. Several people point to her appearance at Coachella as one of the most memorable.
It's sure to be a beautiful way to celebrate summer.

I'll be at this show and I'm definitely looking forward to it. I'm not familiar with any of the artists other than Feist, but your description of the others has made me anxious to check them out!

"Now after wining four Grammys, Leslie Feist..."
i don't know if i'd have said Feist won 4 Grammys so much as lost 4 Grammys, or is that one of those "the glass is half full, the glass is half empty" things?
don't get me wrong. i was pulling for Leslie over Amy "no-nuance" Crackhouse for countless reasons, not the least of which is that Feist understands the difference between a well-written song and a well-thrown tantrum.
