A World Record Broken: More Photos from Friday's Motorcross Jump

Motorcross daredevil Ronnie Renner broke the Guinness World Record for highest air ever attained on a quarterpipe at the Santa Monica Pier on Friday evening.

LAist Contribrutor Adam Rose reports. "Falling just shy on his first two tries, Renner set the world record at 54' 7" on his third attempt. He seemed to be finished after another pair of exhibition jumps, taking of his helmet and starting to do interviews. When it was announced that he didn't crack 55 feet, the crowd of over 20,000 began to chant, "One more jump!" Renner obliged, and smashed the record he had set just moments before by soaring 59' 2" into the Santa Monica sky."

In addition to Rose's photos, LAist Photographer Tom Andrews was there too. Here's what he saw.
