LAst Night's Action: Yet Another Perfect Flirtation

Lowe Is Feeling It

LA Dodgers defeat Atlanta Braves 2-1. Dodger's starter Derek Lowe flirted with a perfect game for six innings. In the top of the seventh Gregor Blanco hit a single up the middle to break up the perfect game, and Jeff Francoeur emerged from his hitting slump to go yard in the eighth inning for the sole run. Matt Kemp, coming off his golden sombrero performance the night before, hit a homer in the sixth inning to get the scoring started for the Dodgers. The Dodgers would eventually add the winning run in the seventh inning and would win their fourth consecutive series. Yet again the Dodgers crawl to one game under .500 and tied for first with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Texas Rangers defeat LA Angels 5-4. The only thing that needs to be known about this game is with one man on and Josh Hamilton at the plate, Angel's closer Francisco Rodriguez had a 4-3 lead after giving up a run earlier in the inning. Hamilton on a 3-1 pitch blasts the slider down-and-in to right field for the walk off homer. Never EVER throw a pitch down-and-in to a lefty who is a power threat. Rodriguez blows the save and nothing seems right in the world beyond the Orange Curtain.

Notable Notes

More on the Clippers and Elton Brand later this morning.
