A Galaxy team eager to change their recent fortunes will take the field tonight at the Home Depot Center against bitter rival Chivas USA.
While Chivas USA are starting to come into form, the Galaxy are as unpredictable today as they were when the season started, winning 4 out of 5 matches leading up to their tie against Columbus on June 14, then failing to win in the three games since then, one of them a 4 - 1 loss to long time rival D.C. United.
It should be a hard fought match tonight, as the blue-and-gold's lackluster performances of late are quickly putting the team in a difficult spot in the standings. Their last victory -- a 3 - 0 beating of lowly San Jose -- helped propel the team into first place in the conference, but the Galaxy's inability to win since then has allowed Chivas USA to tie them in the conference standings.
In addition, the Galaxy's failure to extend their first place lead has put them in a situation where a loss this evening could see them slide all the way down to fourth place, depending on how other conference rivals fare over the weekend.
Galaxy need a victory, and what better way to get it than at the expense of one's biggest rival on a national broadcast. There is not much else to say about this game that hasn't already been said before, so get out there and support your side!

I'm so pumped for this game, the LA Derby is always a fun night. since franklin is out for 2-3 weeks its gonna be tough, our defense really needs to step it up. i wish we could try out our new signing.
my prediction: 4-1 Galaxy, Landon Scores 2 goals, Buddle gets one in, and franchino scores the fourth thus making the riot squad go apeshit.
