Mandeville Canyon Motorist Vs. Bicycle Incident Deemed 'Road Rage'*

Regarding the incident reported this morning where a one Dr. Christopher Thompson*, a 58-year-old emergency room physician and resident of the Mandeville Canyon neighborhood, was involved in an alleged road rage incident between two bicyclists, Christian Stoehr and Ron Peterson, on Mandeville Canyon Rd. in Brentwood, there have been some updates.

"Captain Eaton, the commanding officer of the West LA station, reports that LAPD believes this was indeed a 'road rage' incident, made an arrest, and is handling the matter as a felony criminal assault, and not as a traffic collision," explained Mike Bonin, Chief of Staff for Councilmember Bill Rosendahl, in a comment that was verified this morning. "The investigation will be handled by [West Los Angeles division] Detectives, who are seeking a criminal filing. When LAPD updates us on the progress, I will be sure to share that information here."

*Note: There are other Dr. Christopher Thompsons in the Los Angeles area who work in medicine and unfortunatley some are being wrongly threatened.

holy crap - well, props to the LAPD for doing this right. I hope they alter their policy to do this for all similar cases.

Holy shit. Seeing the back window of that car and all the blood speaks volumes about the severity of this incident. I am so sorry this happened. I am glad to see that the LAPD is treating this like the criminal assault that it is.

I hope the good doctor enjoys prison

This man needs his medical license taken away. He obviously has no concern for human life.

CIVIL SUIT. He's a doctor right? CIVIL SUIT.

Seriously, sue him, sue him hard.

Ten bucks says this guy is a doctor of psychology. They're always a little nuts.

Sue him and make it hurt bad. Then throw him in jail to think about it for a long long time.

here ya go!

I really really really want this fuckhead's home address. I really really really hope he doesnt buy his way out of this.

Good work LAPD.

Christian Stoehr and Ron Peterson, hire attorney(s).

"One can't help but googlewonder if this headshrinker is the suspect."

If it is he sure has some anger management issues.

Ah fuck it, here's what I found...

Please be responsible with your postings.

Christopher R. Thompson was not the Dr involved here.

This guy driving is certainly a scumbag, but let's make sure we don't implicate others as well.

But, as I posted there is a Christopher T Thompson who lives on Mandeville Canyon Road.

What a wacky coincidence that would be!

So, I post public information that I found in a simple internet search, and it gets deleted?

Classy.

I hope the people over at Metroblogging L.A. are reading this... maybe it will make them stop and think about why people like myself will never ride a bike on the streets of Los Angeles, and why people like myself will only ride bikes instead of cars if they continue to allow them on the sidewalks.

Some of us just aren't willing to risk what happened to this poor guy happening to ourselves... with a new report every other day of some bicyclist being turned into ground meat by some asshole driver, people should welcome laws allowing bikes on sidewalks (especially considering that so few people actually use them for say... walking) rather than speaking out against them. I for one have never seen any reports of some innocent pedestrian having their nose sheered off by a run-in with a bicyclist on the sidewalk. I'm sure sidewalk walker/bike accidents do happen, but I'm also willing to bet the injuries have not been this severe... there's a big difference between being hit by a bike and being hit by a car.

I sure hope these folks recover quickly and completely.

Sorry guys, too many people are posting personal information here and we can't police it. We do not want to encourage any vigilante justice. The police are on the bicyclist's side in this case, let's let them do their job and we can follow the case from there.
