The Marina Del Rey display was nice. Kind of short, (about 30 minutes), but the finale was pretty good. A huge white chrysanthemum!!

We'll be watching the fireworks from the Wilshire Country Club with our neighbors. We all gather on the streets around the golf course to watch the show.

Hanging out with my brother in Marina Del Rey. We should be able to walk over to the park and get a good view of the display.

Happy 4th everyone!!

Last year I ended up at the revolving restaurant atop the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown as fireworks shows were revving up all over the city. As we rotated around (we drank enough overpriced cocktails to do two full rotations) we saw show after show after show. It was fun. Of course, I have to say that I almost never celebrate the 4th "properly" (Canadian!) and so I tend to keep my distance from big 4th events. No clue where I'll end up tonight...

I was planning on joining the BIG BANG ride around Venice/Marina Del Rey, which is (I believe) separate from the Critical Mass ride, although they both end at MDR. Not to mention the afternoon BBQ and pool party! [info]

First of all, Happy Fourth of July to all our American friends and enjoy your holiday weekend. We had our Canada Day (July 1st) and had an opportunity to enjoy the fireworks already.

My neighbors will be unhappy, but I am going to let you know anyway... Pacific Palisades has the best fireworks. Starts at 9:00 p.m at the local high school on Temescal. Don't mention my name.

Anyone planning to view the Studio City show from outside the studio lot this year should note that the usual best viewing location - the Moorpark bridge over the Tujunga Wash - is a real mess of a construction zone this year, since the bridge is currently being replaced.

I really love the Moorpark bridge location for the way the BOOMs reverberate up the concrete box channel of the wash, but given the construction, we'll be somewhere else this year.

(And besides, it's our 30th anniversary, so we want to do something a bit more special than just hanging out at the local neighborhood show. Any suggestions for really special 4th would be appreciated.)

i was going to say redondo beach, but someone already said it. plus you can kick it at the beach all day.

pedro is ok, i've seen them there before, but then you're stuck way out in pedro. you might as well travel to Egypt.

i think the closest fireworks to your house, should be the main qualifier. good luck getting home after the fireworks are over if you live far.
