Yup. Pretty accurate, though I'd add and awesome BBQ to the religious nutball region.
Wait! Where's "Flyover Country"?
I know it's there somewhere. I've flown over it. :-)
Boo. Illinois is just as blue of a state as California. Though, that map might put Chicago in Canada, but I can't tell since Californians apparently don't recognize the existance of Lake Michigan.
Jeremy, just remember that that map is "How Californians See America", not "What America is Really Like". :-)
The reason they call it "Flyover Country" is become some network TV honcho was standing around one day pontificating about how the good people of "the American Heartland" felt about things, and someone said, "The 'American Heartland'? What the heck do you know about the 'American Heartland'? All you know about the 'American Heartland' is what you see when you fly over it on the way to New York!"
So from then on, any time the network brass started talking about "the Heartland", the writers would go, "Oh, you mean Flyover Country? Yeah, tell us how much you know about Flyover Country."
So dinging that map for being socially and geographically inaccurate sorta misses the whole point. :-)
Where's Hawaii? Righteous Babes and Gnarly Waves.
Bah. I guess I forgot my smilies. I wasn't that upset. Well, maybe a little.
Hawaii is just California's outer islands.
