Enforcement of Cell Phone Driving Begins Tomorrow
If you plan on breaking the hands-free cellphone law tomorrow and in the future, your chances of being pulled over will be determined by where you are the LA Times finds.
The California Highway Patrol plans to be the most aggressive about it and with the annual beef up (80% of officers on the roads) in staffing around the 4th of July, the two will go hand-in-hand well together.
As for the LAPD, enforcement will be more lenient and discretionary. If you are driving poorly while using a cell phone with your hands, you are likely to get pulled over and written a ticket. However, driving safely with a cell phone pressed to your ear can still get you pulled over, but a ticket might be unlikely. Just heed their warning.

I wish this was in effect last Friday, as 4 women in Old town Pasadena, all in SUVs, were on cell phones w/their left hands while making dangerous turns and lane changes - completely oblivious to the safety of the pedestrians crossing the streets and the cars surrounding them - two of them had children in their ridiculous monstrous car.
Then again, maybe they would be just as bad without the cell phone. Either way, they either need a ticket or a single car accident in which they either make the better world a better place by leaving it, or figure out that "Hey! Maybe I should drive a little more carefully!"
