discarted, yes, the law does apply if you are riding a bicycle on a street as you are treated as a motorist. However, when on a sidewalk, I'm not sure how that would work.

Adhering to the law need not cost so much out of pocket! I got a perfectly good ear bud for FREE ('cept the cost of shipping, which was, like, $4) by utilizing... http://www.freeheadset.org/home.php You'll have to wait about 10 days until it's delivered to your doorstep via the USPS, but that'll be 10 days of focussed and concentrated driving, eh? ;)

yeah... i dont understand how texting isn't illegal when that uses sometimes two hands and for sure taking your eyes off the road... but i'm glad too haha =D for me it's gonna be a $3 head band and shoving my blackberry in between that and my head.

I recently scored a Motorola HS820 for like $15 on woot.com -- best places to go for super-cheap gear like this is Fry's (physical store), which is online at http://outpost.com, http://tigerdirect.com, and http://ecost.com or just hit up the GOOG All new Acuras have hands-free bluetooth action and personally, I have no intention of giving up on texting and web-browsing while driving so I'm glad that is still legal. I don't like *talking* on the phone anyway.
