Pink Lady and Jeff Exposed!

Pink Lady and Jeff was a kitschy variety show that aired on NBC in 1980 and lives on in the limitless playground of YouTube. Brought to you by Sid and Marty Kroft, the creative geniuses behind such childhood classics as The Bugaloos and Sigmund the Sea Monster, this show falls into the "so bad it's good" category. Keiko Masuda ("Kei") and Mitsuyo Nemoto ("Mie"), singing sensations in their native Japan, and comic Jeff Altman, spent every week mixing musical numbers with embarassing Godzilla jokes.

It is common knowledge that Kei and Mie did not speak the language and had to painstakingly memorize all of their lines in English phonetically. The songs are electronically enhanced, in true Johnny Bravo-style to cover any flaws.

Hudson brother Brett let us in on a little secret the other evening at the Mods and Rockers Film Fest. Kei and Mie had so much difficulty learning the song lyrics in English that they had to bring in ringers. The English language songs by Pink Lady were actually sung by Brett and his brother Mark Hudson!

Keep an eye out for The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show, which will be coming out on DVD soon. I, for one, am giddy with anticipation!

Pink Lady actually singing in their actual voices (Now who's the Huell Howser of LAist?). It's nice to know that cheesy costumes and choreography are universal.

this female singer gets credit for being the uncredited voice of Pink Lady (sounds right to me)

It is very BeeGees-like. She could easily have been one of many.

I got this info straight from a Hudson Brother.
