Classical Pick of the Week: Bugs Bunny on Broadway

the Rabbit of Seville, with a "cameo" by Leopold Stokowski

This week we revisit some classic cartoons at the Hollywood Bowl. It pairs the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Looney Tunes characters as it incorporates the music and the cartoons live on stage. This is the final performance of the show before 2010 when they present a new 20th anniversary edition.
It includes the Rabbit of Seville and What's Opera Doc?

This is a fun and exciting way to introduce the younger audiences to classical music. It is highly suggested to bring a picnic basket and a blanket (it gets cold), and maybe even a bottle of wine and enjoy the music. Tickets are priced between 10 and 114 dollars. There are shuttles from various locations as well, to avoid paying a hefty price for parking.

My parent's get tickets for every damn show there it seems, no matter what it is, or if they know the act or not, just to drink wine outside–inviting me every once in awhile. But this is one of those that I'll gladly stay in and drink my wine at home.

I've actually come to like the Bowl. It's the only venue where I can pack up a dinner and grab a bottle of wine, catch a $3 shuttle, and enjoy a nice night out for about $10 beyond the cost of tickets. And the sound system seems to have been much improved in recent years.

Good seats are more expensive than other venues, but the cheap seats are cheaper. I've headed out to shows there with no tickets and $20 in the pocket and come home with change.
