<p>This was the one show of the fest I was truly sad to miss. Camper Van Beethoven were perhaps the best band to come out of the late 80s post-punk scene.

"My Beloved Tania", an ode to Patti Hearst, has to be my favorite, with lyrics like , "How I long to see your face photographed in 15-second intervals..." and "We carry your guns deep within our hearts, and there's no better reason than our lives have no meaning, and we want to be on television!"

It is perhaps an obscure fact to non-punkers that "Wasted" is a cover of a song by local band Black Flag, which also contains the line "I was so heavy and I lived on The Strand." By slowing the song down to an almost painful tempo, Camper Van turned the song into a sly commentary on hardcore music as well.

Sigh.
