LAst Night's Action: Action Packed

No Win for Kershaw

Chicago White Sox defeat LA Dodgers 2-0. Dodger's starter Clayton Kershaw couldn't get out of the fifth inning, and the Dodger's offense did nothing to help him. The Dodgers had their chances to at least make it a game, but when it counted the most the Bums went cold. Kershaw is still without a win in any professional game this year, and thanks to being in a horrible NL West the Dodgers still have a chance of winning the division.

Notable Notes

The NBA Draft is completed, yet the drama still ensues. As expected the Chicago Bulls picked Memphis guard Derrick Rose as the number one overall pick. However unexpectedly there were no big trades in the next nine picks as was rumored just hours before the Draft. The Miami Heat ended up picking Kansas State forward Michael Beasley. USC's OJ Mayo went third to the Minnesota Timberwolves. In a complete shocker, UCLA guard Russell Westbrook was chosen fourth by the Seattle-Oklahoma City-Wherever-They-May-Land Sonics just getting picked ahead of Bruin teammate Kevin Love who went fifth to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Clippers picked Indiana guard Eric Gordon and the Lakers picked some dude with the third-to-last pick.

As previously stated, the drama hasn't ended. As I'm typing this out, Minnesota and Memphis has agreed to a trade of their first round picks. The draft rights of OJ Mayo and Marko Jaric, Antoine Walker and Greg Buckner will be sent to Memphis for the draft rights of Kevin Love along with Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal and Jason Collins. Only one thought on this: Huh?

What in the world have happened to the Americans in the grass courts of Wimbledon? At the conclusion of all of the second-round matches, the only American man left in the draw is Bobby Reynolds. Who? Exactly. Andy Roddick choked against Janko Tipsarevic while James Blake lost a five-setter to German Rainer Schuettler. No Mardy Fish. No Robby Ginepri. No Sam Querry.

In other upsets, the Russian Marat Safin decided to show up and upset third seeded Novak Djokavic Wednesday. 2004 winner Maria Sharapova lost in straight sets to 154th-ranked compatriot Alla Kudryavtseva. What in the world is going on over there?

Finally to clean things up from the last couple of days, MLB umpire Brian Runge was suspended a game for bumping NY Mets manager Jerry Manuel and Shawn Chacon was released by the Houston Astros after By Jimmy Bramlett in News | Link | Comments (1) | Recommend this! |

I thought Memphis was all about rebuilding, but getting rid of Miller for an old fart like Antoine Walker?!
