Galaxy Rumors

Rumors are floating around that seem to validate some recent comments from Galaxy President Alexi Lalas.

In an exclusive interview aired last Saturday on the Galaxy's spanish language TV weekly magazine show, Galaxy Deportivo, Lalas responded to the question of new signings by indicating that the team was looking to sign a quality defender. Although Lalas declined to mention any names, he did specify that it wouldn't be a big name signing like Beckham, but ensured that it would be a quality defender, and that only a few minor details mostly pertaining to the player's concern over cost of living/lifestyle changes were impeding the signing/official announcement.

Today, some non-official sources are reporting that the mystery signing is Eduardo Dominguez of Huracan from the Argentine first division and that it is a done deal till the end of the 2009 campaign.

Assuming this is true, let's hope that he turns out to be a star performer for the Galaxy defense.

Huracan was in 13th place in argentina, but they only gave up 17 goals in 19 games. hopefully our man dominguez had a lot to do with their defensive effort.

Ditto. We definitely need the help back there. I wonder if he will replace one of the existing defenders or if Dominguez will simply become an additional member of the group. Should be interesting.

One other unrelated comment from Lalas' interviewing which is worth noting related to Ruiz. He mentioned that Ruiz needs to score goals if he wants a spot on the team. Lalas made it sound as though they weren't impressed by the bits of him that they've seen this year and that they might be getting ready to dump him.

Personally, I wish they would. I can't stand the way he drifts in and out of games, plus I am annoyed by his lack of discipline at times.
