LAst Night's Action: Slow Day

Thank You Jeebus

LA Angels defeat Washington Nationals 3-2. Angel's starter John Lackey was nothing short of impressive. He went eight innings giving up two runs, one earned on six hits with six strikeouts. Trailing 2-1 the Angel's offense was nice enough to give Lackey two runs in the eighth inning to get him the win. The game got real sloppy in the end resembling a little league game with all the botched throws and sloppy defense. Closer Francisco Rodriguez notched his 31st save of the season. We're not even halfway through the baseball season and Rodriguez already has 31 saves. Yikes.

Notable News

Everyone's favorite fortnight is here! The Championships Wimbledon are underway, and top seed Roger Federer is seeking his sixth straight title. He started in great form defeating Dominic Hrbaty 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. Meanwhile the third seeded Serb Novak Djokovic got a scare dropping the second set against German Michael Berrer, but ended up winning the match 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, 6-0. Seventh seeded Argentine David Nalbandian wasn't so lucky losing to Canadian Frank Dancevic 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.

On the ladies' side, top seeded and French Open champion Ana Ivanovic dispatched Paraguayan Rossana de los Rios easily 6-1, 6-2. Serena Williams started slow but still beat Estonian Kaia Kanepi 7-5, 6-3.

In light of George Carlin's death Sunday night, here is a video of Carlin discussing the differences between baseball and football.
