AAjax says: "My point is there is little to no real difference between them."

This might be the most dumbed-down, ignorant 'point' i've heard in awhile. Have you even been paying attention in the past few months?

I'm not sure what you're expecting Obama to be. FISA was a mistake on Obama's part but there's also a million other isses you're leaving out that will decide the direction of our country for the rest of our lives.

You say they both suck, but the problem is one of them is going to be president whether you like it or not. Better choose sides: do we want to take a chance with something different or have more of the same blatantly criminal activity we've had for eight years...for another 8 years.

Actually Carla, Obama has secured the nomination in the most basic way: it is securely his. He has not been nominated, but the nomination, for all intents and purposes, is his.

BTW AAjax, Talking Points Memo is a great website. If I were to judge a person by the webites they read, then you are definitely a person who is awake, and aware of what's going on politically and how it's going to effect us all.

" I agree with your point of supreeme court nominees being VERY important."

Consider that two, possibly three USSC justices will be retiring in the next Presidential term.

So our choice is quite simple;

If we want to see the USSC totally stacked to the right. If we want to see Roe V Wade dissappear. if we want to see more pro-corporation, less human rights, less privacy, less citizen rights, and more bad decisions in general.

We vote for McCain.

If we want to pry our country out of the hands of the right wing fanatic ideologues.

We vote for Obama.

First, I consider it a choice because they're different. Neither one is 100% my ideal, but I know I'd rather have one than the other. I suspect you would, too, and there's nothing wrong with venting your frustrations.

I disagree with Obama on immunity for telecommunications providers and on the Patriot Act. War funding is a little trickier, because while I would like to see the war end as soon as reasonably possible, I would not like to see the troops who are in harm's way in the meantime without the proper equipment (body armor, etc).

I disagree with McCain on virtually everything. Therefore, as a believer in reproductive choice, a progressive tax structure, reducing the national debt, diplomacy as the first resort and war as the last, real sex education in our schools that will help to prevent teen pregnancies and STDs, and a host of other issues on which my views align more closely with Obama's than McCain's, it's obvious to me that there is not only a real choice, but a choice I find obvious.

JRB,
Now that is a rational view. I agree with your point of supreeme court nominees being VERY important. This is possibly the best reason I have heard for wanting to vote for Obama.

I however see no hope at the end of the Obama tunnel, especialy after I watched Obama's speech to AIPAC (linked below) http://tinyurl.com/63l2yb

Paulk,
Why not address both Obama and McCains support of the war through funding, support of the Patriot act, or support for warrentless wiretapping? Its allot easier to focus on my first sentance in my last post isnt it? while Avoiding the real issues.

My point is there is little to no real difference between them (especially on the really evil stuff). My problem with Obama is that he is a really good ploitician, a great speaker, and an accomplished liar (read his prior "promise" to give no ground on the FISA bill) And this type of politician with his media backed cult of personality is supremely dangerous. People will follow him, and unlike Bush they might even take him seriously. But with a voting record like his and McCains what American could possibly consider either of them a rational choice? Who could consider this type of A or B option a choice at all?

"So whats your point?"

Three words;

Supreme-Court-Appointments

I don't like the spinless Dems any more than the fascist Repubs, but until American voters grow a pair and stop being intimidated into not putting Greens in office we're stuck with the same old shit sandwich.

Seriously, I'd love to vote for an African American woman for President who is outspoken, brave, and uncompromising like Cynthia McKinney is, but I know she doesn't stand a snow ball's chance in hell.

Check her out...

AAjax, let's assume the validity of your (rather absurd) premise. Assuming the choice is between a "douchebag" and a "turd sandwitch [sic]", we still need to decide whether we prefer a douchebag or a turd sandwich, don't we?

If one is a bag filled with vinegar and water, and the other is feces between two slices of bread, I'll take the bag seven days a week and twice on Sunday.

Well its either a Douchebag or a turd sandwitch right?

McCain, Obama, seriously... they have the same voting recored on the following
              Obama McCain
War funding Y Y
Patriot Act Y Y
FISA (wiretap) Y Y

So whats your point? Except for the really evil stuff Obama is better? You Obama supporters sure avoid the tough questions, a cult of personality will not save us.

http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/06/obama_backing_fisa_compromise.php

With Obama backing the Illegal warrentless wiretaping of American citizens, and granting retroactive immunity to the telco's who really wants to see this fraud and liar?

From the article
"It does, however, grant retroactive immunity, and I will work in the Senate to remove this provision so that we can seek full accountability for past offenses."

So if your against something you vote for it and make empty prommises to "fix it later"?

Change, you can believe in*

*Change is not to be associated with campaign promises or any stated goals, take as directed.

Actually, Obama the narcissist has not "secured" the nomination. The convention is in August. He is until then the presumptive nominee. Hopefully by then, people will start seeing him for the fraud that he is.
