Damnit, I was going to start a post on Wrigley Field in a few days for L.A.Eastside.com. Great post, but I guess I'll change the topic of my post on Wrigley Field.

Speaking of the Catalina Island facility, the two fields were identical to the foot. Wrigley knew how important it was to have the training grounds look and feel exactly like the home field. Brilliance.

Fantastic post!

We did a group bike ride a few months ago to Watts Towers and back that included a stop at Lindsay Park where Wrigley Field had been. I've wondered about the Avalon coincidence what with Wrigley Field being bordered by Avalon Boulevard and his Cubs' training facility at Avalon on Catalina Island.

I've often wondered about MLB greats such as Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams who might have played at Wrigley Field during their years with the Pacific Coast League. Interestingly enough Williams joined the Padres the year after Wrigley's rent hike forced the Hollywood Stars' relocation/renaming. Had that not happened Wrigley Field coulda woulda shoulda been the home turf early in the career of the greatest hitter ever to play the game.
