Meiko @ Hotel Cafe, 6/12/08

Meiko

Last Thursday, local singer/songwriter Meiko (MySpace) performed the second show of her month-long residency at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood.

During her set, she recalled a rather memorable experience where "I did another photo shoot with Tyler Shields! It started off kinda funky because I was supposed to meet him at his apt.... and I went to the WRONG apt., walked in like nothing, and caught a man on his couch choking his bishop! The man then covered his bits and pieces, ran to the door and slammed it... I don't know who was more traumatized, me or him.... Lets just say it was me!)"

Also performing that night were Arlington-based Andy Zipf (MySpace), Ken Oak Band (MySpace), Astra Heights (MySpace), and Yellow Red Sparks (MySpace).

Tonight and next Thursday are the remaining nights of Meiko's residency, and on Saturday, she performs at Make Music Pasadena (free and all ages) on the Emerging Artists stage. Be sure to listen for her favorite expletive: "Shitballs."

Meanwhile, her debut album will be re-released in the near future with several tracks re-recorded, and she will be touring in September.

Special thanks to Andy Zipf, Ken Oak Band, Meiko, and Hotel Cafe.
