I'm OK with this as long as the coffers aren't raided for non-Metro projects. Also, we should be doing some audits for where the current transportation tax money goes. OC has been paying a half-cent sales tax for transportation for over a decade. What do they have to show for it? Streets without potholes for one.

airickoo: why the hell do you want to tax luxury cars extra? that makes absolutely NO sense. they are already taxed more based on their higher sale prices. as for trucks/SUV's, yes they cause more wear and tear on roads, but aren't they already more costly to register?

While we're at it, why not propose an extra tax on car registration for all SUVs, trucks and luxury cars as well! This money could be used to fund transporation projects all over the region and state.
