WeHo Can Make Your Same-Sex Honeymoon a Staycation

TwoGroomsWeddingCake.jpgThanks to soaring gas prices and relentless airline woes, the hip thing to do this summer is to go on a "staycation."

Of course, if you are one of the many local couples soon to be celebrating your legal same-sex nuptials, a honeymoon may be in order. After shelling out the bucks for the license, the tux rentals, the tastefully done floral arrangements, and the last night out as a singleton drinks bender at Rage, there might not be too much green left for a big trip.

A press release from the West Hollywood Marketing & Visitors Bureau touts that LA's Boys' Town is becoming a top honeymoon destination for him and him (or her and her). In fact, WeHo "expects the financial impact from the California Supreme Court’s ruling to greatly and positively impact the local economy due to couples arriving to get married and celebrate their honeymoons, as they take advantage of local hotel packages, and the offerings of local businesses catering to gay couples such as wedding planners and venues."

So if the price of gas to get you to Palm Springs and back is more than you can spend, hole up with your honey here in town. Local hotels like Le Parc Suites, the Ramada Plaza Hotel, and the Sunset Marquis are all launching special Honeymoon and romance-themed packages, and the GoGayWestHollywood website is prepping a special section on wedding planning and resources. If you need to figure out things from a legal standpoint before getting the invites engraved, check out tonight's Town Hall meeting.

West Hollywood's stigma of "Boys Town" has been diminished due to gentrification and private parties at local clubs.
