CHP Shoots, Kills 52-Year-Old Woman
A woman was shot and killed by a California Highway Patrol officer last night. The incident occurred just off the freeway exit near Hellman and Garfield Avenues in Alhambra around 11:10 p.m. after officers pulled her over for speeding and driving erratically in her BMW sedan on the eastbound 10 freeway.
As the officers approached the vehicle, she allegedly brandished a gun, prompting one of the officers to use deadly force shooting one round into her chest. Upon further investigation, it was found that the alleged weapon was a replica, according to LA County Sheriff's. "There was a replica firearm recovered at the scene of crime," sheriff's Lt. David Dolson told KNBC. "It's virtually indistinguishable from a regular operating handgun." The woman, whose name has not been released, died at the hospital.

if you were pulled over and had a fake prop in your car...wouldn't you hide it and then tell the officer that it was in your car (instead of holding it) so he wouldnt panic and shoot you?

When you get pulled over, you roll down your window, put both of your hands on the top of the steering wheel, and sit quietly until you're told to do otherwise. Otherwise, you are a threat. Got a problem with that? Tell it to the judge.
This from the Dealing with Law Enforcement in Southern California manual. You've got your copy, right?

Or this may simply be another case of suicide by cop.
