After the Flood at A+D Museum
After the Flood - Building on Higher Ground, a part of the International symposium series Sustainable Dialogues, is the first in a series of exhibitions held at theA+D Museum that showcases eco-friendly and innovative international architectural proposals for replacement housing and the redevelopment of New Orleans, Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, which drew from an international competition organized by Architectural Record and Tulane University's School of Architecture.
The exhibition is made up of environmentally friendly and cradle-to-cradle takes on traditional New Orleanian housing such as the shotgun and camelback single and double family homes, as well as multifamily housing. Also included in the exhibition is "What Next", urban planning and design proposals for the city put together by Tulane University.
Projects by award winning architects and firms such as Anderson Anderson Architecture, Eight Inc, and Workshop/apd are highlighted.
The exhibition runs through June 27. Next in the series is a site specific performance piece Inspired by the writings of Tennessee Williams, Andrei Codescu on June 22.
In conjunction with LACMA Muse is TASTE by LearnAboutWine —a monthly wine-tasting event at the A+D Museum in which visitors sample wines and food in a social setting. The summertime series kicked off Friday with TASTE Italy. TASTE will include a large selection of premium and super premium wines to give guests an overview of a particular wine region or style.
