The rising price of gas is nothing new, but these past seven days, a gallon of gas has jumped up 27 cents. Prices have not increased at this pace since August 2003.
One year ago, gas prices were about one dollar less than today's Los Angeles average of $4.38 per gallon of regular.
"The Auto Club says California refineries are producing more diesel fuel and less gasoline, creating a need to import more costly unleaded fuel from out of state and overseas," reported ABC7.

that sign is old news. the cheapest gas in the valley now is like 4.30
I filled up my car at the Valero on Beverly and La Brea last Friday and regular gas was $4.09/gallon. When I drove past this morning on my way to work, it had gone up to $4.33. I would not be surprised if it has gone up again by the end of the day.
As much as I like living in L.A., these gas increases are really making me miss the New York City subways.
This morning, analysts predicted $150 barrels of crude within a month. That would equivocate a tripling in the value of Crude Oil futures in about 18 months.
Can we make a law so that Bush/Cheney's buddies in petrol market manipulation can pay our taxes and give us all bonuses for the next few years?
"...analysts predicted $150 barrels of crude within a month..."
What this does is it already plants it in your mind that there will be $6 gas by the 4th of July....that means the oil companines are starting now to ramp the price to match the prediciton...
The $12 prediciton will be true at $300 a barrel...come December.
If gas gets to $12 dollars a gallon I sure don't want to be in LA when people start to riot.
they better speed up that subway construction or we're all doomed.
