"I couldn't go into the future and get a photo for you."

What?!?!?

And you call yourself an Editor!?!?!?

(j/k)

"Besides, as I hear it from the inside, LAUSD is just a mess."

Indeed. I live right around the corner from the admin offices at 333 s. Beaudry. I've lost count of the number of times I've had to walk an extra block to get around one protest or another.

I couldn't go into the future and get a photo for you. That's why the credit says "Photo of a different teacher protest..."

It has nothing to do to get attention, etc. Purely a case of lack of photos from an event that hadn't happened yet. We're limited to what is available out there that has commercial rights under a CC license. Nice conspiracy theorizing though!

The problem I have with the photo, beyond the grammatical errors, is that it's irrelevant to the article. According to what I read, the teachers are striking in response to the budget cuts.

The sign has to do with immigration. The photo was placed clearly as a media tactic (or perhaps bad editing) to distract the audience from the real issue.

Besides, as I hear it from the inside, LAUSD is just a mess. They can't even get their payroll issues straightened out. Perhaps radical action all the way around is necessary action to force their hand and get them to clean up their act.

Unfortunately the kids have continued to suffer at the hands of a mismanaged school district and parents who are forced by socio-economics to assume the schools will raise said kids.

I'm having a problem with the fact that a necessary comma is absent from the sign... apparently not an English teacher!

Is it just me or does anyone else have a problem with the sign the teacher is holding up in the photo. Yeah maybe it's just me.
