The “In the Flesh” reading series begun by author and editor Rachel Kramer Bussel in NYC in 2005 finally launches in LA today. Accomplished local authors are asked to share intimate and humorous details about s-e-x. The LA series will be hosted by writer Carrie Milne (Hooking Up, Naked Ambition) and will be held the last Thursday of every month. Tonight’s theme: Survival.

An entire art exhibit dedicated to images of rock legend Jimi Hendrix opens in Beverly Hills with a reception tonight. The show – featuring more than 30 works by 17 artists – coincides with the 40th anniversary of Hendix’s first US tour in 1968.

DARFUR TOUR
The Darfur Now College Tour’s second day at UCLA features a “Mighty Mic Save Darfour Concert.” On the bill: OK Go, Ana Dim Mak, Nico Vega and others. The tour’s purpose is to raise awareness and funds to stop the genocide happening in the African nation. (Please park in lots 4 and 6 for this event. )

THEATRE
I Gelosi tells the story of Italy's first great traveling theater troupe. In the late 16th century, the Gelosi Company become rock stars of Europe thanks to beautiful and charming Isabella Andreini, one of the first women ever to play on the stage. But things take a turn for the worse for the troup when they make fun of the Pope in a satire.
