Lightning in a Bottle

In its third year, Lightning in a Bottle has grown into one of California's eminent music and arts festival. Despite the rain and cold weather at the Live Oak Campground in the forests of Santa Barbara, the four day event welcomed approximately 4,000 guests to camp beneath the trees and stars. What started out as a birthday party by Do Lab co-founders, Jesse and Josh Fleming (they are identical twins), has become a full-fledged festival full of top notch DJ's, performances, and art. With three DJ stages that included sets by Bassnectar, Adam Freeland, Marques Wyatt, The Glitch Mob, and Kazell, music filled the forest day and night; and inspired live performances by Cirque Bezerk, Lucent Dossier, and Yard Dogs Road Show, the weekend was not lacking of entertainment. Along with the performances, there were plenty of speakers (which included Chris Paine, Daniel Pinchbeck, and Nick Baggarly), workshops, and panels that discussed everything from Cyber Consciousness to Growing Architecture.

Those photos and videos are wicked! I've been wanting to go, but this has pushed me over the edge. Next year, where we come!

I think it should be an LAist weekend excursion. It's not as rough or expensive as Burning Man, it's only a couple of hours drive north. A really amazing event, that I am still reeling from. Hope to see you there next year.

you forgot to mention inspired live performances by the March Fourth Marching Band!

How can I forget? You guys woke me up from my slumber, and I chased you guys all around the forest... Thank you, thank you, thank you.
