DVD Tuesday: Hey, innocent bystanders! Duck!

Sylvester Stallone No way he's using steroids! | Photo courtesy of Lionsgate

I liked Rocky Balboa and Rambo all right, but what I'm really looking forward to is Sylvester Stallone reuniting with Dolly Parton in Rhinestone 2: Rap Wars. This is hard to say as a Woody Allen fan, but Woody should consider giving up on the comedies and focusing strictly on his dramatic films. Cassandra's Dream continues what has been a good streak. The Walker was a trifle compared to Paul Schrader's masterful Auto Focus, but I'm glad to see Woody Harrelson working again. Here's to hoping he finds something befitting his unique talents.

Cassandra's Dream

The Thief of Bagdad - Criterion Collection

Rambo kicked butt as a movie and I'll defend it on my grave. Simply put, Rambo makes no bones that some people (like the ruthless Junta in the movie) deserve to die a bloody and gory death and this world has become too politically correct and wussy-sensitive to take that moral position.
