Pencil This In: Monday

LACMA for free
LACMA is free today with live music and art workshops. / Photo by pink_fish13 via LAist's flickr pool.

There are plenty of non-grilling-related events going on about town, so if you’re not firing up a BBQ today, might want to check a few out.

FILM
The ArcLight in Sherman Oaks is hosting a “Summer at the Drive In” series – and tonight the summer lovin’ begins with Grease. See pre-Pulp Fiction John Travolta dance and sing his way across the big screen. Other things to look out for: a 30-something Stockard Channing trying to pass as a high schooler and Venice High School as Rydell High.

7:30 pm // ArcLight Theatre // 15301 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks // $11.50.

JAZZREGGAE FESTIVAL*
Memorial Day seems like the perfect time to host the final day of the 22nd Annual JazzReggae Festival at UCLA -- a Weekend of Peace, Love, and Music. Headlining today's event is Stephen Marley. But what’s more impressive is that there’s a fully solar-powered local talent second stage and a bio-diesel powered main stage.

Noon-7 pm // UCLA Intramural Field // UCLA // $35.

POOL PARTY
The Tropicana Bar @ the Roosevelt is hosting a pool party today. We don’t know how many beautiful babies will actually be swimming in this winter-type weather, but at least the music will be good with DJs steve aoki, dj rukus, myles hendrik and randam.

Until 5 pm // Roosevelt Hotel // 7000 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles // Price depends on your drinking abilities.

COUNTRY FAIR
Head out to Topanga for the last day of Topanga Days – the 35th anniversary of the community’s environmentally friendly arts, crafts, music and food fest. Parking is limited, so check out the site for specific details.

Until 7 pm // Topanga Community House // 1440 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., Topanga // $10-418.

ART
Thanks to Target, you can enjoy the art at LACMA today for free. There’s contemporary sculpture by Richard Serra, Chris Burden, Tony Smith, Robert Therrien and big band music by Art Deco and His Society Orchestra. The museum’s also hosting workshops with artists Ismael de Anda and Eszter Delgado.

Noon to 8 pm // LACMA // 6067 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles // Free.
