Pencil This In: Saturday

Remember all those times you said to yourself, “Man, I wish I was watching this movie at a cemetery instead of in my comfortable living room”? Well, now you can. Cinespia’s summer screening series starts tonight with Ace in the Hole (1951) projected on a mausoleum at the Hollywood Forever Cemetary. Bring food, drinks, blankets, and lots of courage.

KHAAAN
For all you Trekkies out there you are sure to love this one: Daniel Martinico, a local artist, has captured the best moments of the movie Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and turned it into a 15 minute video. It will screen for 24 hours straight all weekend at Machine Project, starting at the opening reception tonight.

ART
Last chance to visit Menace & Charm: The Nostalgia of Childhood exhibit at Black Maria Gallery. The group show features the artist’s portrayals of childhood that although the images look lively, they are often of disturbing images.

PARTY
Here Lounge houses the official Sex and the City Release Party tonight dedicated to the movie’s biggest fans. Reform Gallery opens their weekend-long photography exhibit The Eye of the Storm: War Through the Lens of American Combat Photographers, in honor of the Memorial Day holiday. The goal of this exhibit is to raise funds and awareness for The Wounded Warrior Project.
