A poll conducted by the Los Angeles Times/KTLA has found that Californians are practically split even on the issue of gay marriage, which was deemed legal last week by the California Supreme Court. The findings on their website, which was posted yesterday afternoon, time stamped for today, has already garnered over 3,000 comments. Let the fight begin...
"The survey also suggested that the state is moving closer to accepting nontraditional marriages, which could create openings for supporters of same-sex marriage as the campaign unfolds," found the Times. "More than half of Californians said gay relationships were not morally wrong, that they would not degrade heterosexual marriages and that all that mattered was that a relationship be loving and committed, regardless of gender."
However, over a million signatures were collected by opponents before the court ruled on the issue in anticipation of them unbanning the prohibition on gay marriages. Now allowed, the petition has been submitted to the secretary of state's office to put the matter on the November ballot. By mid-June, it will be announced if voters will once again decide the latest fate of gay marriage.

Heeere we go again! Cant wait to see/hear the ad spots.
When the fuck does liberty come into play in this whole discussion? I don't care how many people vote against it, choosing who you love is a fundamental human right which mustn't be denied by the tyranny of the masses.
Oh, and I'm still waiting to hear a good, non-religious argument against same-sex marriage.
I will never understand how anyone could have a problem with two people who love each other getting married. Sigh.
I will never understand how someone could believe in a god that "abhors" someone. How does that work?
#2: Are there even any BAD non-religious arguments against same-sex marriage? Is there any basis for denying this right outside of religious protocol?
I don't think this is ever going to stop until we ratify a constitutional amendment but if it's true that californians are virtually split on the issue I guess we're a very long way off from that happening.
Against gay marriage= A bunch of busybodies who have nothing better to do then stick their noses in other people's business. Pathetic.
@HeartAsDryAsDust, I couldn't agree more. I've been married 23 years and don't care who wants to marry each other.
"believe ON the lord..."
These cats aren't terribly articulate, are they?
Oh Mah Lawd!
Hide yo kidz, you doggies and kittenz, them gays are gonna rape em' in the butt!
What next!? They'll want to marry ponies and koalas!
Believe ON the lawd Jesus Christ!
Oh there are plenty of bad non-religious reasons. What immediately springs to mind involves institutionalized sexism against women, and latent fear of homos. That is, they want the former barefoot and preggers in the kitchen, and the latter kept in the closet.
It's usually phrased as the "traditional" or "special" nature of marriage.
