TV Junkie: Thursday
So aging favorite David Cook won "American Idol" last night, how could this happen, what with all the texting teenie-boppers? It turns out that viewership by the 12-17 demographic was down dramatically, resulting in 42 as the average age of an "American Idol" viewer. NPR had a great piece on yesterday's "Morning Edition" regarding how the show has somewhat degraded over its 7 seasons: distracted/bored judges; contestants obviously placed by the producers; and rampant product placement (feel like a Coke and a smile?).
"Grey's Anatomy" finale tonight and a couple others - also, "Last Comic Standing" premieres.
8:00pm So You Think You Can Dance? FOX - Season Premiere. And we thought this dancing crap was over.

9:00pm Close Encounters of the Third Kind TCM - (1977) Perhaps Spielberg's best. A chance to see it without commercials.
9:00pm Grey's Anatomy ABC - Season Finale
9:30pm Last Comic Standing NBC - Season Premiere. LAist interviewed host Bill Bellamy a couple months ago when NBC was casting this.
10:30pm Reno 911! COMEDYCENTRAL - Summer Premiere. Hooker Inspection
