- Could you believe the wind going on last night? Well, OC residents had it a lot harder: a massive storm hit Orange County and caused mudslides in the foothill areas. More freakish weather to come.
- Additionally, "a tornado touched down near March Air Reserve Base in Riverside just after 4:30 p.m... It lasted for at least six minutes and there were some prelimary reports of damage and overturned vehicles," reported the The Desert Sun.

- One woman died last night in a fire in the South LA neighborhood of Vernon-Central. A 40-year-old man and teenage girl were also injured.
- David Nahai is the Department of Water and Power's General Manager. Part of his job is telling Los Angeles to calm down on the energy consumption and start conserving before the whole city goes on a blackout blitz. Alan Mittelstaedt is trying to see what Nahai's water and power bill is like for his $4.6 million Benedict Canyon mansion with seven bathrooms.
